Library Assistant Wanted at Hedemora City Library

The Education Administration is seeking a library assistant to be placed at Hedemora City Library.

In Hedemora, we see the library as an important place to create conditions for democracy and meetings based on everyone’s differences. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is service-oriented, social, and interested in literature, digital technology, and interacting with people.

The organization includes the main library, the school library center, and Kerstin Heds library (a joint middle and high school library). The library has 10 employees and is part of the Education Administration.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main responsibilities will include working at the lending desk, including evening and Saturday shifts according to a schedule, where the most important qualities are to provide a welcoming reception to our visitors and help them navigate the library's offerings.

The work also involves activities aimed at different age groups, primarily responsible for ordering and organizing media for the school libraries and assisting the school library center.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school education.
Good Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.

We are looking for someone with good social skills and a sense of service. You are stable as a person and practically oriented. The job requires that you enjoy and work well with others, but you should also be comfortable working independently. You need to be both flexible and resilient in your work approach.

Knowledge of working with digital tools is essential, and experience with the library system Quria and the school library system WeLib is a plus. Experience in promoting reading is advantageous as well as service or other outreach activities. A driver's license (B) is required.

Since the position involves interaction with children and youth, a background check will be requested by the employer.
